Restoring Previous Amplifier Firmware

Should you wish to restore a previous version of the firmware of your compatible amplifier you can do so by following the steps below. We would always strongly encourage users of our digital products to keep them up to date with the latest firmware versions - any 'downgrades' are at your own risk, as we only support the latest INSIDER version, and any Service request will require the latest version of firmware to be installed.

  1. Uninstall any current version of INSIDER from your computer.
  2. Download the relevant INSIDER version from the list below.
  3. Install this version fully to your computer.
  4. With your amp connected and powered on, launch INSIDER in ADMIN mode (hold down ‘shift’ key whilst launching the software)
  5. You will be prompted that a firmware update is available- select 'yes' and complete the update.
  6. Power the amp off and on again.
  7. Perform a factory reset (hold MOD, DLY & REV switches simultaneously whilst powering the amplifier on)
  8. Power the amplifier off and then on again.
  9. (ID:Series users will then need to re-disable Demo Mode by holding the MANUAL switch whilst powering the amplifier on)

Software Support

Blackstar's Insider software includes everything you'll need to download, install and run the programme. If you run into difficulty with the Insider software, here's what you should do:

  1. Check the FAQ page. If you've hit a stumbling block you probably won't be the first. You'll find solutions to most common issues here.
  2. Download the handbook and read through it. All functionality is described and explained here
  3. Check the system requirements against your PC or Mac. You'll need a computer that's capable of running the software.
  4. If you've not solved the problem by now, use our contact form to contact our software support team.
