Blackstar INSIDER Release Notes

IMPORTANT NOTE: when updating to the latest version of firmware always connect the amplifier to a main USB port (usually found on the on the rear of your desktop PC or Mac). Never use a front mounted USB port, USB hub or a USB extension cable.

Before upgrading any amplifier we suggest you always back up your patches from your amplifier memory to your local INSIDER patch library, stored on your computer’s hard drive. This is achieved by connecting your amplifier to INSIDER via USB and right-clicking your amplifier patch within the INSIDER workspace and selecting ‘IMPORT PATCH TO LIBRARY’. You can back up all patches in one action by multi-selecting all patches: left-click the first patch, then hold the SHIFT key on your keyboard whilst left-clicking the last patch.

The amp will need a factory reset at power up to activate the noise gate feature. Please refer to the user manual for instructions on performing a factory reset. NOTE: factory resetting your amp will overwrite all user-saved patches. Please save any patches from the amp to Blackstar INSIDER before performing the factory reset.

Version 1.2.5.0 (PC release)

  • Noise gate added to OD channels. This has 3 settings. Off, Low and High and by default it is set to Low
  • New voicing added
  • Tuner

Software Support

Blackstar's Insider software includes everything you'll need to download, install and run the programme. If you run into difficulty with the Insider software, here's what you should do:

  1. Check the FAQ page. If you've hit a stumbling block you probably won't be the first. You'll find solutions to most common issues here.
  2. Download the handbook and read through it. All functionality is described and explained here
  3. Check the system requirements against your PC or Mac. You'll need a computer that's capable of running the software.
  4. If you've not solved the problem by now, use our contact form to contact our software support team.
